Apple supplier TSMC reports gas contamination at key chip plant
애플 칩 공급사인 TSMC 공장에서 생산용 가스가 오염
(Reuters) -Apple Inc's chip supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co said on Friday that some of its production lines in southern Taiwan were hit by a contamination of gases used in the chipmaking process.
TSMC does not expect the incident to have significant impact on operations, it said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
로이터 통신에 따르면 어제(7/23) 애플 칩 공급사인 대만의 TSMC 남부 공장의 일부 생산 라인에서
칩제조 과정에서 사용된는 일부 가스가 오염되었다고 한다.
TSMC는 이번 사고가 공장 작동에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 생각하지 않았다.
Nikkei, which first reported the news, said the company's most advanced chipmaking facility, Fab 18, was hit.
It added that all of the latest processors for the upcoming iPhones and Mac computers were produced there. (https://s.nikkei.com/3iebmQw)
이를 처음 보도한 니케이는 이번 사고가 발생한 팹18은 TSMC의 최신 공정을 사용하는 곳이다라고 했다.
그리고 이 공장에서는 이번에 발매할 아이폰과 맥컴퓨터용 최신 프로세서를 생산중이었다.
"To ensure that there will be no issues with production quality, TSMC is currently carrying out stringent follow-up operations," the company added.
Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
TSMC는 생산 품질에 이상이 없도록 엄격한 관리를 하고 있다고 언급했다.
애플은 로이터의 코멘트 요청에 대답하지 않았다.
