Pure-play foundry TSMC has reported sales results for September and the third quarter of 2021 both hit record highs.

TSMC posted September revenues of NT$152.69 billion (US$5.45 billion), up 11.1% sequentially and 19.7% on year. Revenues for the third quarter of 2021 came to NT$414.67 billion, rising 11.4% on quarter and meeting the company's guidance given in July.

3분기 매출은  전분기대비 11.4% 증가한 4146.7억대만달러(원화 약 16조5868억원).

 

TSMC disclosed its cumulative 2021 revenue through September increased 17.5% on year to NT$1.15 trillion.

2021년9월까지 누적 매출은 전년 동기간 대비 17.5% 증가한 1.15조 대만달러(원화 46조원)

 

TSMC will discuss its performance in the third quarter and provide a business outlook at an upcoming earnings conference call scheduled for October 14.

TSMC estimated previously third-quarter revenues at between US$14.6 billion and US$14.9 billion - an 11% sequential increase at the midpoint - and revised upward its revenue growth outlook this year to above 20%.

수정된 2021년 매출 성장율은 20%이다.

이날 TSMC는 매출의 절반 이상이 7나노(㎚: 1㎚=10억분의 1m)와 5나노 공정에서 나왔다는 점을 강조했다.

첨단 공정에 일찌감치 투자한 덕을 톡톡히 보고 있다는 얘기였다.

TSMC의 3분기 매출 가운데 7나노 비중은 34%로 가장 컸고, 5나노 비중도 18%에 달했다.

지난해 3분기 TSMC의 5나노 비중은 8%에 불과했다.

업계에서는 전 세계 5나노 파운드리 중 TSMC의 점유율이 90%에 육박한 것으로 보고 있다.

TSMC 관계자는 “스마트폰과 고성능 컴퓨터(HPC), 사물인터넷(IoT)과 전장에서 수요가 컸다”고 설명했다.

 

수요처별로 가장 매출이 많이 나온 분야는 스마트폰이었다. 매출 비중이 44%에 달했다.

서버용 PC(HPC)가 37% 비중으로 뒤를 이었다.

지난해 2% 수준이었던 전장 매출 비중이 4%로 올라온 점도 눈에 띈다.
