TSMC may have to raise capex for 2022 (digitimes.com)

TSMC may have to budget a higher capex for 2022 than the record-high US$30 billion allocated last year, as strong 5nm, 7nm and 28nm chip demand encourages it to build additional fab capacities, according to industry sources.

 

업계 소식통에 따르면, 강력한 5nm, 7nm 및 28nm 칩 수요는 TSMC가 추가 시설투자를 구축하도록 장려함에 따라,

2022년에 TSMC는 작년에 할당된 사상 최대 규모인 300억 달러보다  더 많은 설비 투자를 계획해야 할 수도 있습니다.

UMC monthly revenue tops NT$20 billion (digitimes.com)

 

Pure-play foundry United Microelectronics (UMC) saw its monthly revenue exceed NT$20 billion (US$722.5 million) for the first time in December 2021.

 

순수 플레이 파운드리 UMC(United Microelectronics)는 2021년 12월 처음으로 월 매출이

200억대만달러(US$722.5백만)을 넘어섰습니다.

 

UMC reported December revenue of NT$20.28 billion, a record high for the third consecutive month.

Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2021 totaled NT$59.1 billion, rising 5.7% on quarter and

hitting an all-time high for the ninth consecutive quarter.

 

UMC는 12월 매출이 NT$202억8천만으로 3개월 연속 최고치를 기록했다고 발표했다.

2021년 4분기 매출은 NT$591억으로 전분기 대비 5.7% 증가했으며 9분기 연속 사상 최고치를 경신했다.

 

UMC posted revenue of a record-high NT$213 billion in 2021, up 20.5% on year.

UMC is poised to carry out a NT$100 billion expansion project at its 12-inch factory site at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). The foundry unveiled in December 2021 plans to commit NT$76.27 billion in capex that will be used to procure new equipment for new phases at Fab 12A Fab.

 

UMC는 2021년에 전년 대비 20.5% 증가한 2,130억 대만달러(약 211조 원)의 사상 최대 매출을 올렸다.

UMC는 대만 남부 과학 공원(STSP)의 12인치 공장 부지에서 NT$1,000억 확장 프로젝트를 수행할 예정입니다.

2021년 12월에 공개된 이 파운드리는 Fab 12A Fab에서 새로운 단계를 위한 새로운 장비를 조달하는 데 사용될 762억 7000만 NTD의 설비 투자를 계획하고 있습니다.

 

Earlier in 2021, UMC disclosed that several of its major clients had made commitments to supporting what the foundry calls the "P6 cooperation model."

P6 is the phase-six facility of UMC's Fab 12A and will be equipped with 28nm tools that have the flexibility to produce smaller nodes down to 14nm, according to the foundry.

UMC expects the expanded P6 facility to get ready for production in the second quarter of 2023 and

bring in an additional output of 27,500 wafers monthly.

 

2021년 초 UMC는 주요 고객 중 일부가 파운드리가 "P6 협력 모델"이라고 부르는 것을 지원하기로 약속했다고 밝혔습니다. P6은 UMC Fab 12A의 6단계 시설이며 파운드리에 따르면 14nm까지 더 작은 노드를 생산할 수 있는 유연성을 가진 28nm 도구가 장착될 것입니다.

Fellow foundry Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) announced recently the completion of its acquisition of AU Optronics' (AUO) Fab L3B at the Hsinchu Science Park. Dubbed VIS' Fab 5, the new facilities will bring in approximately 40,000 8-inch wafers monthly, according to VIS.

VIS saw its December revenue climb to about NT$4.6 billion, a record high for the second consecutive month. Revenue for the fourth quarter and all of 2021 also hit all-time highs of NT$12.74 billion and NT$43.95 billion, respectively.

 

동료 파운드리인 Vanguard International Semiconductor(VIS)는 최근 Hsinchu Science Park에서 AU Optronics(AUO) Fab L3B 인수를 완료했다고 발표했습니다. VIS의 Fab 5라고 불리는 이 새로운 시설은 매월 약 40,000개의 8인치 웨이퍼를 가져올 것이라고 VIS는 밝혔습니다. VIS는 12월 매출이 NT$46억으로 2개월 연속 최고치를 기록했습니다. 4분기와 2021년 전체 매출도 각각 NT$127억4000만 및 NT$439억5000만이라는 사상 최고치를 기록했다.
