• Global PC shipments (desktops, notebooks, and workstations) increased 26% Y/Y to 91.6M units, according to new IDC data.
• The pandemic-driven work and learn from home trends drove traditional PC sales up 13% for 2020 compared to the prior year, which is the highest annual growth rate since 2010.
• "Demand is pushing the PC market forward and all signs indicate this surge still has a way to go," says Ryan Reith, program vice president with IDC's Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. "The obvious drivers for last year's growth centered around work from home and remote learning needs, but the strength of the consumer market should not be overlooked. We continue to see gaming PCs and monitor sales at all-time highs and Chrome-based devices are expanding beyond education into the consumer market. In retrospect, the pandemic not only fueled PC market demand but also created opportunities that resulted in a market expansion."

• For the year, Lenovo (OTCPK:LNVGY,OTCPK:LNVGF) led the PC market with a 24% market share. HP (NYSE:HPQ) followed with 22.4%, Dell (NYSE:DELL) with 16.6%, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) with 7.6%, Acer with 6.9%, and the Others basket catching the remaining 22.4%.
• In Q3, PC shipments hit a 10-year high driven by the strong notebook demand.
