Notebook shipments rebound in May with China COVID lockdowns easing, says DIGITIMES Research

중국 코로나 봉쇄 해제로 5월 노트북 출하량은 증가했다.

 

The global top-5 notebook brands saw combined shipments rebound 34% in May from a month ago with the lifting of COVID lockdowns in eastern China, but the volumes still went down compared to the same month a year ago amid feeble demand that constrained vendors' order pull-ins, according to DIGITIMES Research's findings.

 

글로벌 상위 5대 노트북 브랜드는 중국 동부 지역의 코로나19 봉쇄 조치가 해제되면서 5월 합산 출하량이

Lenovo had the strongest on-month shipment performance in May among the top-5 brands with the Chinese vendor's volumes also surpassing those of its US counterparts Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell.

Lenovo returned as the largest notebook brand worldwide in the month. After having suffered a drastic on-month decline in April shipments, Lenovo was able to achieve a high shipment growth in May.

HP's shipments experienced double-digit on-month growth in May with its key ODMs Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics gradually resuming production in China. Dell's on-month shipment growth in May was milder than those of Lenovo and HP, but that was because its shipments were not impacted by the lockdowns as much as others in April, resulting in a higher comparison base.

The top-3 ODMs' combined shipments increased nearly 40% on month in May. Both Compal and Quanta saw a significant uplift in their May shipments as their production was gradually restored post-lockdowns.
