TSMC는 2021년 3분기 매출 11% 증가할 것

TSMC expects 11% revenue growth in 3Q21; raises full-year outlook (digitimes.com)

 

TSMC expects to post revenues of between US$14.6 billion and US$14.9 billion in the third quarter of 2021, which is an 11% sequential increase at the midpoint. Gross margin and operating margin for the second quarter are estimated at 49.5-51.5% and 38.5-40.5%, respectively.

 

TSMC also revised upward its revenue growth outlook this year to above 20%, when the foundry segment and the overall semiconductor market (excluding memory) will increase 17% and 20%, respectively.

TSMC reported net profits slipped 3.8% sequentially but rose 11.2% on year to NT$134.36 billion (US$4.81 billion) for the second quarter of 2021, with EPS coming to NT$5.18, or US$0.93 per ADR unit.

TSMC posted consolidated revenue of NT$372.15 billion in the second quarter, representing increases of 2.7% on quarter and 19.8% from a year earlier. In US dollars, revenue came to US$13.29 billion, which increased 28% on year and 2.9% sequentially. The results slightly beat the company's guidance range of US$12.9 billion to US$13.2 billion.

TSMC credited its 2.7% sequential revenue increase in the second quarter to "continued strength in HPC and automotive-related demand."

TSMC saw its gross margin and operating margin arrive at 50% and 39.1%, respectively, in the second quarter. The margin results met its margin estimates given in mid-April.

TSMC disclosed 5nm chip shipments accounted for 18% of the foundry's total wafer revenue in the second quarter, up from 14% in the prior quarter, while 7nm chip shipments dropped as a proportion of revenue to 31% from 35%. Advanced technologies, defined as 7nm and more advanced technologies, accounted for 49% of TSMC's total wafer revenue in the second quarter of 2021.

TSMC saw revenue generated from orders for HPC products increase 12% sequentially to account for 39% of its total wafer revenue in the second quarter, while revenue from orders for smartphones decreased 3% on quarter to account for 42% of the revenue. Revenue generated from the IoT, automotive, digital consumer electronics and others accounted for 8%, 4%, 4% and 3%, respectively, during the quarter.

Sales generated from the automotive sector climbed 12% sequentially in the second quarter of 2021, according to the available presentation materials.

North America remains the largest market of TSMC accounting for 64% of the foundry's total wafer revenue in the second quarter, while Asia Pacific slid as a proportion of total wafer revenue to 15%, down from 17% in the prior quarter. China, as a proportion of TSMC's total wafer revenue, grew to 11% in the second quarter from 6% in the first quarter and 21% in second-quarter 2020.
